The Flintstones are another one of those great cartoon classics that will be loved for generations to come, even though it was produced for only 6 years between 1960 and 1966. It was an animated cartoon of course, but it was a sort of mock sitcom with laugh tracks, etc. It was set in the town of Bedrock, in Stone Age times. The Flintstones' lifestyle was, however, remarkably similar to modern American life, simply with different objects serving the same functions. For example, round stones were used as bowling balls.
